A story you can't fake.

Not a new bar. A piece of Vienna's nightlife.

From tailor's bench to bar.

From tailor's
bench to bar.

Before anyone mixed or poured at Seitenstettengasse 5, this address was a tailor's shop. In 1994 the rooms were rethought: upstairs became "First Floor," downstairs opened Ron Con Soda — Vienna's first rum bar. A workshop turned into a place for long nights, real conversation, and strong drinks.

An idea became a fixture.

Ron Con Soda was founded in 1994 by Michael Satke First Austrian winner of the Honorary Champagne Medal from Comité Interprofesionnel du Vin de Champagne . Mamun worked at the bar throughout his studies, building up valuable experience over the years. When the time came, he took over from Michael Satke — and has been the heart and soul behind Ron con Soda ever since, both as owner and passionate bartender. He took over in 2003 and carried forward what made the place from day one: ease, craft, and a sharp instinct for atmosphere.

At Ron Con Soda, design has always mattered as much as the drinks. The bar and its interior are the work of star architect Gregor Eichinger — the hand behind Unger und Klein, the Österreicher im MAK, and the Palmenhaus in the Burggarten. His brief: the most authentic Cuban bodega bar possible. Worn-in stairs, light-wood tables and shelving, wide wooden slats behind the counter — together they make for real style, warmth, and a genuine taste of Cuba.

Cuba in the middle of Vienna.

Ron Con Soda sits inside the Bermudadreieck, but its real center has always been Cuba. Rum plays the lead, classic cocktails follow, Latin music underneath. A bar that feels more like a bodega than a concept. That's the whole point: unpolished, real.

The story keeps going after dark.

Reading about Ron Con Soda only gets you so far. Walk in, sit down, order the first drink.

The rest takes care of itself.
